NPS Heritage Committee
The Navy conducts activities in observance of ten specified diversity-related groups, events or individuals. DOD themes are promulgated by the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI). Each one of these months your NPS Heritage Committee comes together and holds events to celebrate the diverse heritage of not only NPS but our great nation. The United States is a country that prides itself on diversity and recognizes the greatness we can achieve when we embrace our differences. NPS is no different with our students, staff and faculty hailing from every corner of our great nation and abroad. Most of our guest speakers are from NPS or the surrounding community that share their trials, tribulations and achievements with the audience. Each event is packed with history and delivered on such a personal level that you feel you are walking a mile in their shoes. As Martin Luther King Jr so eloquently said, “We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.” If you haven’t already, try to attend an event. You won’t be disappointed!
