Human Systems Integration (HSI) views the human as a critical component in any complex system. It is an interdisciplinary approach that makes explicit the underlying trade-offs across HSI domains (i.e., Manpower, Personnel, Training, Human Factors Engineering, Environmental Safety and Occupational Health, Survivability, and Habitability) to optimize total system performance.
The goal of the distance learning program is to educate eligible personnel in the federal government and defense contractor organizations in HSI. The graduate of this program will possess the skills necessary to function as a practitioner in HSI.

The Naval Postgraduate School is pleased to announce open registration for the nation's premier distance learning Master of Human Systems Integration (HSI) degree program and the Human Systems Integration Certificate program. Both programs are open to all federal government employees (military and civilian) and defense contractor employees (on a space available basis). Deadline for application is 2 July 2017.

*Per OPNAVINST 1520.23C, a Navy officer will incur a 3 year service obligation upon completion or withdrawal from the DL Masters in Human Systems Integration (MHSI) program.
**International Students: Ensure that you read and understand the eligibility requirements and application process.
- Baccalaureate Degree
- GPA of 2.2 or better
- Lower level calculus sequence with C or better average
- Waivers may be considered
NPS is mission funded to provide tuition-free graduate education to active duty naval officers (USN and USMC). Additional course fees may be required.
All others MUST be financially sponsored by their command or company.
The availability of seats in distance learning programs is determined at the program level.
Graduates earn both an MHSI degree and an HSI Certificate, as well as the DAU equivalencies:

Each course in the distance learning masters program is $2250 for federal civilian employees and non navy service members.
