Human Systems Integration (HSI) acknowledges that the human is a critical component in any complex system. It is an interdisciplinary approach that makes explicit the underlying tradeoffs across the HSI domains (and, in particular, manpower, personnel, training, and human factors engineering) to optimize total system performance within the constraints of cost, schedule, and risk.
This program will challenge students to examine how best to integrate human considerations into all phases of the lifecycle of a complex system.
Students will be able to participate in the lifecycle acquisition process as HSI practitioners. They will be able to evaluate system acquisition programs for HSI compliance. Students will also be able to conduct trade off analyses by assessing the contributions of manpower, personnel, training, human factors engineering, environment, safety, survivability, habitability, and health hazards with respect to cost, schedule, risk, and performance.

The Naval Postgraduate School is pleased to announce open registration for the nation's premier distance learning Master of Human Systems Integration (HSI) degree program and the Human Systems Integration Certificate program. Both programs are open to all federal government employees (military and civilian) and defense contractor employees (on a space available basis). Deadline for application is 2 July 2018.

- DoD Contractors
- International Students**
*Per OPNAVINST 1520.23C, a Navy officer will incur a 1 year service obligation upon completion or withdrawal from the Certificate in Human Systems Integration program.
**International Students: Ensure that you read and understand the eligibility requirements and application process.
- Baccalaureate Degree
- GPA of 2.2 or better
- One lower level calculus course with C or better
- Waivers may be considered
- DAU equivalencies:
- ACQ 101
- ACQ 201A
$2250 per student/course.
The Human Systems Integration program allows a small number of defense contractors into the program. Tuition for defense contractors accepted into the HSI Certificate program is $2250 per student/course.
