Thomas-Durell Young Reveals NATO's Blind Spot: "Honest Defense"
Thomas-Durell Young, director of CCMR's EUROPE program, has recently published an article entitled "NATO's Blind Spot: Getting to 'Honest Defense.'"

The article, published on 17 July 2017 by War on the Rocks, comments on the ability of NATO's newer allies (Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, the three Baltics States, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, etc.) to meet the requirements necessary to contribute to modern collective defense. Dr. Young then offers a fresh vision for the future of security cooperation among NATO allies-- one which relies on what he calls "honest defense." Key to the idea is the application of pressure on younger NATO allies "to adopt Western democratic defense governance concepts."
The article is published by an organization called "War on the Rocks," which is described as a "platform for analysis, commentary, debate and multimedia content on foreign policy and national security issues through a realist lens" (access their website here).
