Megatrends in the Electrical Power Industry

CEE Leading Innovation Seminar

Location: Naval Postgraduate School

The five-day Leading Innovation (LI) seminar is designed to provide Navy leaders with both the skill set and the mindset to understand the critical nature of innovation as it relates to organizational success in the Navy. The program focuses on building and sustaining an innovative organization that produces measurable results now and in the future.

Development topics include:
Innovation
Entrepreneurial Thinking and Action
Opportunity Identification
Resource Stewardship
Embedding Innovation as a Value

The Objective/Desired End State
A cadre of Navy flag officers, other military leaders, and SES personnel with both the skill set and mindset to understand and apply the critical nature of innovation and entrepreneurial thinking to achieve organizational success.

Who Should Attend?
The LI Course is designed for Navy flag officers at the 1- or 2-star level, Marine senior leaders, and SES personnel.

The Location
LI is conducted at the Naval Postgraduate School's Center for Executive Education in Monterey, California.

Energy Planning and Logistics

CEE Strategic Communication Workshop


Date: augusztus 7, 2018 to augusztus 9, 2018
Location: Naval Postgraduate School

The Strategic Communication Workshop (SCW) is a hands-on, results-oriented workshop that assists commands in the development and implementation of strategic communication plans and processes. Teams should bring their command's strategic plan and/or a command initiative that might benefit from a communication component. Naval Postgraduate School faculty use the latest research and lessons learned from industry and DoD to generate discussion.
 
Questions To Be Addressed During The Workshop

•    What strategic analysis is supporting your communication tactics?
•    Who are your key stakeholders and how do they impact the achievement of your goals?
•    What messages are your actions conveying, both inside and outside your organization?
•    How does communication provide the linkage between day-to-day activities and commander's priorities?
•    Are you maximizing your strategic effects with associated communication processes?           
 
 
Who Should Attend?

Suggested workshop attendees are teams of 3-5 key organizational members led by a Flag Officer, SES, or O-6. Commands should send a diverse group -- seniority, functional areas, and others who are familiar with the initiative (e.g. Planners, IO, PAO, HR, IT, Policy, and/or Operations).

The Location

The SCW is conducted in the spaces of the Center for Executive Education on the campus of the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California or in designated Fleet concentration locations, as designated on our main webpage. Estimating the Value of Offshore Wind

CEE Navy Senior Leader Seminar (NSLS)

Location: Naval Postgraduate School

The Navy Senior Leader Seminar (NSLS) provides senior officers (O6/O5) and senior civilians (GS-15) with an intensive nine-day executive education program that introduces the latest "best practices" in strategic planning, goal setting, strategic communication, effects-based thinking, risk management, financial management, and innovation. The program provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to manage and lead effectively in complex organizations.
 
Objectives / Desired End State

•     To learn directly from Navy leaders the strategies, policies, and resource issues shaping the Navy's strategy today and the business processes to achieve that strategy.
•     To acquire knowledge that stimulates innovative thinking and provides leadership tools to meet the challenges confronting the U.S. Navy in the 21st Century.
•     To share expertise with and learn from peers in the course.
•     To enhance participants' individual strengths to support changes set by senior Navy leadership.
 
The Location

The NSLS is conducted at the Center for Executive Education on the campus of the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. Lodging is available on-base at the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites in historic Herrmann Hall.

Who Should Attend?

The NSLS is designed for Navy Captains, high-potential Commanders, GS-15 equivalent civilians, and Fleet/Force Command Master Chiefs. Participants are nominated by their TYCOMs and community leadership.

CEE Strategic Planning for Execution: Assessment and Risk (SPEAR)


Date: augusztus 27, 2018 to augusztus 30, 2018
Location: Naval Postgraduate School

The Strategic Planning for Execution: Assessment and Risk (SPEAR) Workshop provides a guided process to support Commanders and their executive teams to develop mission-critical strategic plans, execute those plans effectively, maximize Navy resources, and accurately assess the impact of their plans.

Questions To Be Addressed During The Workshop
    •    Have you clearly defined your mission, and is it understood throughout the command?
    •    How will emerging internal and external changes impact your strategic plans?
    •    What are the most important objectives for your command to achieve?
    •    What distinctive capabilities position your command for sustained high performance?
    •    How do you assess your objectives and select metrics that assure intended results?
    •    What risks are associated with your plans, and how do you mitigate risk?
    •    Are you maximizing your organizational leadership capabilities to gain support and resources for your strategic initiative?

Who Should Attend?

We recommend sending teams of at least 3-5, led by a Flag Officer, SES, or O-6. The SPEAR goal is for each team to strengthen their organization's strategic planning process with attention to desired outcomes, metric selection and risk management. The workshop is effectively a structured and facilitated off-site for senior leadership and staff to focus on advancing their command's effectiveness to accomplish key strategic goals. Each participating team can take away from the SPEAR workshop an improved strategic plan and assessment with clear, measurable objectives that enable all levels of the command to align their decisions and actions to achieve organizational success.
