Research Interests
All areas of SONAR system development and underwater acoustic propagation, specifically including the following areas: acoustic vector sensors and their utilization in current sonar systems, shallow water propagation and acoustic variability, especially as it relates to sonar processing; the impact of small-scale fluctuations on high-frequency problems (e.g., underwater communications, mine-hunting, etc.); time-reversal acoustics and its utilization in current sonar systems; long range propagation and the effects of ocean variability, specifically as it relates to three-dimensional propagation effects; interactions with sediment and sub-sediment bottom structures; matched-field processing and broadband transient localization in shallow water; and general improvements in acoustic modeling as an aid to data analysis.
Teaching Interests
All aspects of general physics and advanced courses on underwater acoustics.
