Change of charge ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, January 29 at 3:00 p.m. in King Hall Building 237.

Vice Admiral Ronald A. Route, U.S. Navy (Retired), will be relieved by Vice Admiral Ann E. Rondeau, U.S. Navy (Retired).

This is a community event for military and civilian leadership around the local peninsula.

The February 1, 2019 Defense Energy Seminar lecture is titled “The Growing Conflicts in the Global Energy Enterprise” with Dr. Michael Knotek, Former Deputy Undersecretary for Science and Energy, Department of Energy (US/S&E).

Bio
Dr. Michael Knotek was the Deputy Undersecretary for Science and Energy at the Department of Energy (US/S&E) from 2013 to 2015. For DOE to have the ability to closely integrate and move quickly among basic science, applied research, technology demonstration, and deployment, The US/S&E  manages the programs and laboratories of the Office of Science (SC), and the programs and laboratories respectively of DOE’s energy technology portfolio in The Offices of Fossil Energy (FE),  Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), Nuclear Energy (NE), as well as the Offices of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE), Indian Energy  (IE), and of  Technology Transfer Coordinator. This office provides the framework for the feedback among the various elements to facilitate implementation of the President’s Climate-Action-Plan and All-of-the-above national energy strategy and the nation’s general science and energy goals.

JIFX 19-2

Bio
Dr. Beach is the Associate Director for Energy & Technology Policy at the Energy Institute. He is responsible for supervising and conducting research and studies related to the interplay between the development of Energy Policy, Environmental Policy, and Technology Policy. Dr. Beach also teaches Energy Technology Policy and International Energy Policy in the Cockrell School of Engineering and McCombs Business School.

Bio
John P. Broschak is vice president of generation operations and compression for Consumers Energy, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy. Broschak is responsible for the operation of the company’s fossil-fueled, hydroelectric and renewable generating units and gas compression facilities.
