Bravo Zulu to Junior Sailor of the Year winner Petty Officer First Class Tyler Rouse, left, and Sailor of the Year winner Petty Officer First Class Justin Reeder, right. During staff quarters on Dec. 2, Reeder was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and Rouse was awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for their respective efforts towards enriching the command and the Sailors around them.
"It feels good, I lost last year so it's nice to come back the following year and win. It just proves that your pride in your work didn't go unnoticed," said Rouse. "I also highly recommend taking one or two college courses after working hours, volunteering when you can, show up to work on time, and be punctual."

Reeder agreed with Rouse on the honor of being nominated and selected, and gave this advice to his shipmates on how they can achieve greatness as well.
"Be persistent and resilient and don't let your failures define you," said Reeder. "Identify your strengths and weaknesses, and improve, don't maintain!"
