IDARM Holds Contracting, Acquisition Course in Spanish
International Defense Acquisition Resource Management (IDARM) program Lecturer William Chadwick, right, welcomes two new students to the latest Principles of Acquisition and Contract Management course, Dec. 13. IDARM recently expanded its curriculum by adding a two-week course in acquisition and contract management tailored to a Spanish-speaking, Latin American audience.
"We're welcoming 12 students from Chile, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay," said Brooke Adame, IDARM Research Assistant. "Some of these countries have never been represented in our courses before due to the language barrier."
At its core, the new course is not significantly different than previous iterations of the program, offering a practical examination of defense acquisition and contract management. But by adding a simultaneous Spanish translation to the course, IDARM's efforts to strengthen international relationships through advanced education in acquisition is delivered to a broader audience.
The course offers an overview of international best practices and global trends, with a tailored focus on specific challenges and opportunities within the Latin American context.
"I think this is a great opportunity to show how countries can do business," said Chadwick. "We really focus on best practices."
