Industrial Partnerships/CRADAs
How are export control concerns addressed with respect to
- Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs)?
- Nondisclosure agreements (NDAs)?
- Records of Invention?
- Commercial licensing?
- Work for Others (WFOs)?
The primary objective of the Technology Transfer Program at the Naval Postgraduate School is to initiate partnerships with industry and/or academia, license existing technologies, and encourage and assist faculty and staff to transfer newly developed technologies to the private sector. The transfer of government developed technology to the private sector enhances the economic competitiveness of the country in world markets, promotes economic development both locally and throughout the U.S., and helps improve the quality of life for all Americans.
Export Controls are designed to insure that DoD policy applicable to the transfer of commodities, technologies, and software/codes to non-U.S. entities or individuals are enforced. NPS faculty and staff are expected to insure that appropriate precautions and/or requisite approvals are obtained when the concern for an Export Control matter arises.
