Transcripts and Requests

Please choose from the following transcript options (Note:  Official transcripts are available only for those who earned a degree, a certificate, or completed letter- graded courses).

Note to recent NPS graduates: approximately 90 days after the day of graduation, the Registrar's Office automatically sends an official copy to the following human resource offices: AFIT for USAF, USA HRC, BUPERS for USN, and Embassies for International Students.  The SMART Scholarship for Service Program Office receives an official copy on a quarterly basis for all of their SMART scholarship students/ alumni. Naval Nuclear Power School (NNPS) alumni records are also managed by the Registrar's Office.

 

For electronic, regular mail and express-mail transcripts, order online through our secure transcript website at Parchment.com.  You will need to set up an account with Parchment, and there is a nominal fee for the service.  (Please note: by selecting this option, you will be leaving the NPS website)

Please Note: Non-graded courses such as Short Courses, Continuing Education and Executive Education do not appear on NPS transcripts.

Official transcripts for Graduates 1987 - Prior can only be provided in paper form and cannot be sent electronically. Turnaround time is approximately 14 business days from receipt of request.

Include the following information:

  1. Your full name during attendance;
  2. Last four digits of your social security number;
  3. Last year attended NPS; and
  4. Mailing address.

Transcripts are printed on security paper and sealed in a registrar-signature-stamped envelope.  They are mailed via the U.S. Postal Service.  We do not provide expedited services for paper transcripts. You will receive an e-mail confirmation when transcripts are sent.

Note: Non-graded courses such as Short Courses, Continuing Education and Executive Education do not appear on NPS transcripts.

Unofficial Copy (Fast Self-Service Option):

For an unofficial electronic copy of your current transcript, please use the print tool in your Python Student Folio. (VPN is required for Python access.)

Note: First quarter transcripts are blank until final grades are entered.

Verification of attendance is provided for many reasons including employment, insurance, credit, medical or legal. For military veterans seeking certification for GI Bill Benefits, please refer to Using Your GI Benefits to Attend NPS.

The Registrar’s Office can verify dates of attendance, credit hour enrollment for the current term, and degree awards. This service is provided at no charge. Verification of attendance does NOT include courses taken, grades, or grade point average. Course and grade information can be obtained only by requesting a transcript.

To provide verification, we require a signed release from the student including the following:

1. Student’s full name;
2. Date of birth;
3. Last four digits of Social Security number (optional);
4. Year the most recent degree was awarded (if any);
5. Dates of attendance; and
6. Current credit hour enrollment (if needed).

 We accept verification requests through the following means:

  1. Faxed to (831) 656-2891
  2. Emailed to registrar@nps.edu

Please allow 5 business days to process verifications. Verifications will not be provided over the phone. Please do not call to check on the status of a faxed or emailed request unless the Registrar's office has already exceeded the stated turnaround time.

Replacement diploma and certificate requests take 30 business days to process from receipt of request. Replacements will not reflect any subsequent name change that has taken place since the time of graduation.  They will also bear the signatures of the current Naval Postgraduate School President and Provost.  We will e-mail a confirmation upon processing requests. Diplomas and certificates are mailed in 8.5X11” envelopes and stamped “Do Not Bend,” but to help ensure they are undamaged in the mail, please provide a P.O. Box address if possible.

We require the following information:

  2. Your full name during attendance; 
  3. Last four digits of your social security number; 
  4. Last year attended; and
