Program Expectations Briefs (Mandatory Attendance for FY23 NRP Project PI and Co-I)

Participation is required for Faculty PIs and Co-PIs who have one or more FY23 IREFs validated as a requirement and selected for FY23 funding (pending an approved research proposal). It is recommended that all researchers and administrative support participating in the research effort attend this brief. Repeating sessions are scheduled covering the same content. However, at the conclusion of the session we will remain available to assist directly with individual needs, e.g. assistance with Coeus.

Submitting an Initial Research Estimate Form (IREF) for FY23 Info Session

The IREF is used by NPS faculty PIs to submit a preliminary proposed research Statement of Work (SOW) for NRP research topics. Prior to, during and following the NRWG, faculty and students work with Topic Sponsors to scope proposed projects, and then submit an IREF for topics they wish to research. Discussion with the Topic Sponsor, prior to IREF submission, is highly advised. FY23 submission deadline is 18 MAY.

Primary audience: NPS faculty and students.

Repeating sessions are scheduled covering the same content. However, at the conclusion of the primary brief, we will be available to assist directly with individual needs/questions. Please feel free to attend more than once.

The forum allows sponsors to communicate, review, validate, and recommend topics for NPS research.  SECNAVINST 1524.2C dtd 21 Oct 2014 identifies that, “an active academic research program is vital to the quality of education provided to students, the attraction and retention of exceptional faculty members, and the provision of real-time, directly relevant deliverables to government sponsors.” Additionally, it serves as a forum for Navy and Marine Corps organizations to execute in-progress reviews for students and faculty with whom they are already sponsoring research.
